PASQUALE DAPONTE was born in Minori (SA), Italy, on March 7th, 1957. He obtained his bachelor's degree and master's degree "cum laude" in Electrical Engineering in 1981 from University of Naples, Italy.
In 1983 he obtained the Assistant Professor degree in Electrical and Electronic Measurement at the University of Calabria (CS), Italy, and joined the Department of Electrical Engineering. Since 1989 he was Appointed Professor of Electronic Measurements. In 1992 he obtained the Associate Professor degree of Electronic Measurements, in the Faculty of Engineering - University of Calabria. Since 1994 he teaches Digital Signal Processing and Measurement Information at Faculty of Computer Engineering in Benevento, University of Sannio (until December 31st 1997 University of Salerno).
Since 1999 he is a Full Professor of Digital Signal Processing and Measurement Information at University of Sannio. From 1994 to 1996 he taught some courses in the measurement field at the "Diploma Course" of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Salerno, and has joined the research activities of the Department of Computer Science and Electric Engineering of the same University. From 1997 to 1999 he teached "Measurements for Automation and Industrial Production" at the Degree Course in Electronic Eng. - University of Salerno.
From 1992 he is member of the Board of the Association "Gruppo Misure Elettriche ed Elettroniche". He is President Elected of the IMEKO and coordinator of the IMEKO Working Group on ADC and DAC Metrology. He is Fellow Member of I.E.E.E. Instrumentation and Measurement Society. He is member of IEEE I&M AdCom where he is Conferences/I²MTC Chair, Italian Electrical Engineering Association (A.E.I.), Societas Internationalis pro Diagnostica Ultrasonica in Opthalmologia (SIDUO), Editorial Board of the Measurement Journal - Elsevier Publisher; Working Group of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Committee N°10 Subcommittee of the Waveform Measurements and Analysis Committee and Editor of the new Standard Draft IEEE-1658 "Standard for Terminology and Test Methods for Digital-to-Analog Converters".
He has organised some national or international meetings in the field of Electronic Measurements and European co-operation and he was General Chairman of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Conference for 2006.
He is Vice Rector for Post Degree Programmes of the University of Sannio. He is involved in some European projects.
He has published more than 220 scientific papers in journals and at national and international conferences on the following subjects: ADC and DAC Modelling and Testing, Digital Signal Processing, Distributed Measurement Systems.
In 1987 he has received from the Italian Society of Oftalmology (SOI) the prize SOI for the studies on the digital signal processing of the ultrasounds in echo-oftalmology.
He received, April 2009, the Laurea Honoris Causa in Electrical Engineering from Technical University "Gheorghe Asachi" of Iasi (Romania).
